Basic Info

What a fine Tuesday evening.

Here's a little bit of information about my two selected events.  Pretty basic, but always handy!

Their iconic name with the 'Mercury pose' embedded
We Will Rock You is a musical production performed in the Dominion Theatre in Tottenham Court Road. It's directed by Ben Elton (responsible for comical greats such as Blackadder and The Young Ones) and has been running for an impressive 11 years. I must admit, reading the plot made me laugh. In a nutshell, the future generations listen, watch and dress the same things.  Until a small rebel force tries to restore society to it's former self, also called 'the Rhapsody'; a time where young hopefuls would make their own music, with the joy of touring and meritocracy.  How great is that!?  Pretty much a play of our modern society. I'm thinking Ben has the same vision as many of us...

Now then, the 2012 London Olympics! England has been loving the excitement so far, and regardless of the media's attempts of scaring the country, there have been no terrorist attacks. We'll send Al-Qaeda a 'thank you' note any day now.    The Olympics opened on the 27th July, with Danny Boyle's sensational creation (seriously, if you didn't see it, you missed out!) of England starting as an agricultural insignificance, rising to a revolutionary state of wealth and independence. Dating back until Greek times, the Olympics is a series of sporting events, in which countries all over the world are represented and compete. From Air rifles to horse riding, all considered sports are played. The main stadium, known as the Olympic stadium, is the main arena of the running, sprinting and other popular events, and was built for the occasion. The cost of the Olympics has reached nearly £9 billion. Who needs recession and debt when you have 3 weeks of sport!?

Here's their sites,  have a little look around!

My Mind Was Where?

Ok,   I'm searching the internet,   looked in a few magazines trying to find something else to look into.  I found some beer festivals, some corporate events and the occasional Burlesque gig (which was awfully tempting...).  I then look at the TV (which has been on for a few hours now)  and the opening of the 2012 Olympics is on.  CMON!!  Why didn't I think of this before!?  I'm going to compare the 2012 Olympics.   It makes sense, right?   It's been hyped up for a year now, is a global event and must have allootttt behind the marketing etc.    I have decided, this is the one I'm doing.  Oh Happy days!

I See a Little Silhouetto of Events

For the last 5 minutes, ive been trying to think of something catchy as a headline.  That's the best I could do

ALAS! i have found my first event!  We Will Rock You. The widely popular theatrical performance based on the music by 70's Rock Band Queen.  I think everyone has seen adverts in and around London, so I'm thinking it should have a lot to research and uncover.   And let's face it,   it's about Queen.   What more could you want!?

High 5 to the original post!

Bonjour, salam and welcome to my blog!   over the next month, i will be studying and comparing two events, specifically their marketing communications, advertising and public relation sectors.  Now, as magical as that sounds, this is all part of my first year of University.       but hey,    we'll try and keep it cheery!

s'pose i had better get researching ;)
